State Championships

Let’s Have a Happy and Healthy State Championship!
The State Championships will be here before you know it. Please take the time to consult with your veterinarian about potential booster vaccines and other things you can do to keep your horse healthy as you travel to a new region. And coaches, please take the time to talk about bio-security with your athletes, this is the least expensive and most practical way to keep their animal healthy.

About Championship

Each year OHSET has it's State Championship where each District competes in various equine disciplines.

OHSET is more than just high school teams competing against each other. It is about learning team work, sportsmanship, respect and friendship.

Consignment Tack Sale

The Deschutes County 4-H Horse Leaders will be having a consignment tack sale booth at our State Championship Meet. The booth will be located with the other vendors in the event center.

Please pass this information out to all of your districts so that they know to bring items to sell!! This was a huge hit the last time we had it at the state meet, and many people expressed interest in bringing more items to sell had they known about it ahead of time.

Tack, Equipment, show clothes, etc can all be consigned. The horse leaders will manage the booth and all of the sales. The process is simple and quick, and the Horse Leaders only charge a 15% commission on sales. Unsold items must be picked up by 12:00 (noon) on Sunday, and checks will be mailed within 10 days after the State Championship Meet!

Kathy Russell is the main contact for the sale. Please contact her to get your consignor number if you plan to sell items, and to ask any questions you may have! Her cell is 541-419-8925 and email is krussell@ohset.com

PLEASE read over the tack sale downloads below very carefully. Some things have changed since the last sale. We are asking that you get your consignor number PRIOR to arriving at the sale, and that you bring your items tagged along with your sheet filled out.

Thank you for helping to spread the word about this sale/fundraiser!

    State Meet FAQs

    1. Will there be a place to lunge horses?
      1. Yes, there will be places to lunge each morning, and at sporadic times throughout the day. It will be posted on the schedule where and when arenas are available.
    2. Is there extra bedding available?
      1. It will depend on what type of shavings we end up getting. If we get bulk shavings there will likely be extra left over for stalls to be bed deeper. If we get bagged shavings, people wanting to bed extra deep will most likely need to purchase additional bags. As soon as we know for sure what bedding we will have, we will let you know. On a similar note, almost all stalls will be on concrete so if you have mats you can bring, or if you know your horse will need extra bedding, keep that in mind.
    3. Is it okay to keep hay in front of stalls?
      1. Hay and feed will need to be kept either in a feed stall or in your horse trailers. The fire marshal will not permit it to be stored in front of stalls. Horse trailers will be parked a significant distance from the barns (unless you use them in a camping space) so please plan accordingly.
    4. What time can we arrival on Wednesday?
      1. The Fairgrounds will be open for move in after 12:00 (Noon) on Wednesday.
